The Salvation Army gives hope and support to vulnerable people today and everyday in 400 communities across Canada and 113 countries around the world.

Other Events

Throughout the year, over $1,000 was raised from events such as a Pancake Breakfast, Valentine's Day Raffle, 'Coffee Break 2007' and Christmas candy grams.

Shave For The Record

Northern Cancer Research Foundation (NCRF) In 2006, MIRARCO supported the Northeastern Ontario Cancer Regional Cancer Centre through the NCRF. Staff and students gave of their time and their hair in the Guiness World Record breaking event, Shave for the Record, raising over $800.

Staff Billiards Night

MIRARCO staff held a fund raising billiards night and silent auction to raise funds for the NCRF, raising over $500.

--- 2005 ---

Through the donation of time and talent, funds were raised to support three worthy causes in 2005 - The Sudbury Soup Kitchen, Special Olympics Ontario and the Shrine Circus. Various events were held such as a Lunch Box Auction, 50/50 draw, yard sale, Bowling for Charity event, and a Winter Wish raffle co-sponsored by Hide Away Lodge, local artist Jim Cook, Golf Sudbury, and individual donors.

Special Olympics Ontario

MIRARCO was a proud supporter of Special Olympics Ontario, which provides services to over 14,000 people with intellectual disabilities, allowing them to live a fuller and more integrated life within their communities.

Blue Door Café - Sudbury Soup Kitchen

MIRARCO staff and students learned about homeless issues in Sudbury, and how some organizations such as the Blue Door Café are helping to reach out to the less fortunate. Providing up to 400 meals per day, the Blue Door Café is a life line for a group of people that would not be able to make it through the month otherwise.

World Vision Child Sponsorship - Midhun Madhu

Midhun Madhu is a 9 year old from the Tsunami-hit region of Chennai, India. This one-year sponsorship helped to raise funds for his basic living needs, and that of his family, as well as rebuilding the life of families in his community. Midhun has responded warmly to his sponsors through pictures and cards throughout the year, and it has been a privilege to lend support to those in need not only in our community, but around the world.

Shrine Circus

In 2005 MIRARCO was a corporate sponsor of the annual Shrine Circus, one of the largest fund-raising events sponsored by the Shriners. The Shrine Circus provides a quality, fun-filled, family experience with proceeds supporting the community.
