Turgut Yalcin is a professor in the School of Engineering at Laurentian University where he has been teaching since 1982. He obtained a Bachelor's degree in Mining and a Ph.D. in Mineral Processing, both from the Imperial College in London, England. He is originally from Turkey and before coming to Canada, he worked there first as a mill superintendent in a coal preparation plant for 3 years, and then as a faculty member at the Istanbul Technical University for 6 years. He is actively involved in research, with current interests in simulation, flotation, gold extraction and mine backfill preparation.
