MIRARCO Mining Innovation - delivering quality research and innovative solutions to the global mining industry for over 10 years. Its mission is to develop the people and tools needed to plan and design the underground mines and related facilities of the future focusing on geomechanics (hazard assessment and risk mitigation); enhanced visualization & optimization; and environmental stewardship & sustainability.
MIRARCO is located on the campus of Laurentian University in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada. As part of Laurentian University, MIRARCO offers hands-on research experiences through Laurentian’s premier mining engineering programs — visit the following links for more information:
Our co-organizer, CANMET Mining and Mineral Sciences Laboratories (MMSL) is a network of federal government research laboratories within Natural Resources Canada (NRCan). NRCan’s Mine Air Quality and Ventilation group also has a facility located in Sudbury.
CANMET-MMSL provides quality research and sound scientific advice to the mining and minerals industries, and to provincial/territorial and federal government departments involved in promoting or regulating these industries. It conducts R&D on a wide range of processes and technologies involved in extracting ore from the ground and transforming it into a concentrate, mineral product or metal. It also has a long-standing international reputation for technical excellence in mining and mineral processing, and is a recognized leader in developing technological solutions to reduce environmental liabilities and to improve mine workers' health and safety.
